I spent all day today at the US Open golf tournament, so here’s a video of Scooby the miniature wiener dog sort of playing golf. I’m a bit behind on daily wiener dogs, so here’s a few days worth of wiener dog commercials. First up…who can forget the Miller Lite Wienernationals? Actually…even me! Here’s a PetSmart commercial featuring a wiener dog: Here’s a Pedigree commercial featuring a wiener dog that enjoys having his belly rubbed. “Wiener Dog Song” by Yet Another String Band. I think I missed flag day, but Matt and Ashley have photographed this freedom loving wiener dog. Somebody somewhere had a hot dog haiku contest recently. The winner managed to deftly combined hot dogs and wiener dogs, literally…see video above. As far as I can tell, the haiku goes as follows
Katia is an 11-yo wiener dog currently residing in Minneapolis – recently, she’s been following closely the Iranian elections. Click here for a full bio. Coverage of Killer’s untimely death continues in the local and national media as outraged citizens and commentators continue to sound off. The video clip above, from a local news station, contains graphic imagery – Killer’s dried blood on the steps of the family home and Killer’s former collar, now hung outside on a lamppost. Mike Williams, of the Richmond Times-Dispatch, has written a column and posted a video blog called “Danville officer was dead wrong to kill dachshund.” In his column, Williams references the fact that Danville police have had problems with dog shootings in the recent past, and he expresses concern over the Danville PD’s misinformation about the case, sayng
It appears that the Danville police have every intention of continuing to try to justify the shooting, and it appears that the man who shot Killer, Murrill McLean, has no intention of apologizing. Related posts:

UPDATE: North Carolina blogger Christopher Knight has posted photos of Murrill McLean, the Danville, Va. police officer who shot Killer, an 11 pound miniature dachshund. According to Knight – who simply took the photos from Murrill’s facebook and flickr pages – Murrill is enlisted in the Army and his headed back to Iraq. Based on these photographs, he sure does look like the kind of guy that would be scared of a wiener dog. (UPDATE: The officer who shot Killer has been identified: Murrill McLean, 43, of Danville.) The outrage continues over the death of Killer, a Danville, Va. wiener dog who was gunned down by the police earlier in the week. Message boards and the blogosphere are afire with questions and condemnation. GoDanRiver.com has posted a series of letters and emails to its editor. People are not happy. A few samples:
In the video clip at the top of the post, several of Killer’s friends – both canine and human – are featured, and it’s clear his neighborhood will be slow to recover from the shocking loss of the little wiener dog. Says one woman, “He’s in the arms of the angels now…” (Note: I give you about a 1 in 10 chance of actually getting that video to play.) And, finally, there’s disturbing, but unsurprising news, describing the cop’s attitude as both cavalier and confrontational. According to Killer’s owner Tawaiian Harper, Killer lay there “with his guts hanging out” as Officer McLean leaned against this police car smoking a cigarette. When Harper asked McLean for his name and badge number, McLean refused. |
